Sunday Night.

Sunday night, and my home office is up and running again.

Arnie in Wonderland.

Some old composings, these two from 2002. I stumbled upon them last night when rediscovering one of my countless old harddrives. I’ll keep posting some of those old findings in the following days as ‘Blast from the Past’. Joy.

Some old files I came across today - the location shown above is long gone, and so is this cool party location where guys like FM Einheit used to rock.

Magnetosphere from outer space

Magnetosphere from outer space

A quick birthday present I did for an old friend of mine, a scientist with the university of Cologne, Germany. Full version is a A2 poster and a T-Shirt. And in case you are wondering - the guy is researching this topic - Juptitermoon Io’s magnetosphere, strange and complex stuff, really fascinating even though I only understand about 1‱ of the stuff he is talking about.

Cintiq is here!

Ok, go. My new Wacom Cintiq tablet arrived the other day, and I have to say I simply love it. It is really a hell of a difference to working with a regular tablet, drawing directly in the image is just awesome. The images shown in this post were made as first tests on the tablet - all of them made without a paper-scribble directly on the Cintiq. I still have to get used to the tablet, and I am spending every free minute I got in front of it. So far I am doing all my illustrations in Photoshop, but my next goal is getting familiar with Painter and manga Studio. I have tested them both, and they are quite powerful. I’ll keep you updated on that.

Waiting for Cintiq

April 18th, 2008

Wacom Cintiq UX21
Boy, am I excited - I just ordered myself this badass Wacom Cintiq UX21 interactive tablet display. Now all that is left for me to do is wait for it to arrive.
I tested it at my local Wacom dealer the other day, and it just rocks. Till now I was working on a really nice A3 Wide Intuos which is neat and probably all you need, but then again, the Cintiq is a completely different thing. Love, love, love it. Except for the price that is. Here in Europe they are selling this thing for 2.100 €, as compared to around 1.600 € if you grab yourself one in the US. I asked Wacom why that is, and they gave me a standard marketing BS answer. Anyways, I am hoping to get my hands on it next Thursday, I’ll keep you updated on unboxing and my first steps.

crow_1.jpgcrow_2.jpgSwitching from my beloved Macromedia Freehand to Adobe Illustrator took me years - literally. Now after having worked with Illustrator CS2 for about a year I am upgrading to CS3, and even though I haven’t used many of the new features, the new version really feels great! I am still strugglingg with the color management, but once I get that I guess Freehand will finally be a thing of the past.
